SETTING GOALS & PLANNING

Achieving goals is easy for some and harder for others and the timing is crucial. GCSEs and A-levels don’t wait for students to become mature, calm and focused. Students must sit these exams regardless of what’s going on at home or in their personal lives, regardless of how they feel about themselves and their teachers and regardless of whether or not they’re ready for the challenge.

To do well in our exams, we need more than just subject knowledge. We need a clear plan and the ability and desire to follow it. Planning is crucial as it allows us to work out exactly what we’re aiming for, which bits we find tricky, how much we care and what we’re willing (or not willing) to do in order to achieve the outcomes we want. Planning allows us to carve out a clear direction and a structured approach.

Not all young people, especially GCSE-aged students, will have the skills and self-awareness to form a plan and follow it. At this young age, some lucky individuals will be naturally disciplined and focused, but many young people, who are just as clever as their lucky peers, won’t have the organisational skills or awareness to make a clear and achievable plan for their GCSE journey.

At Being Best we work with students to create a clear and comprehensive plan, to work out where there are gaps in knowledge or examination techniques and which bits need an extra push.

Once we have a plan, it’s all about moving forward and ticking boxes. That’s why we offer both group and individual lessons with specialist teachers. Taking a bespoke approach allows us to find the right balance for each student.

Our teachers are all of experienced, knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects.
