Samantha Pope - Tutor for A-level and GCSE students in English Literature | English Language | Spanish | Also runs Creative Writing Workshops

Sam Pope is a highly qualified and versatile tutor who provides A-level and GCSE tuition in English Literature, English Language, and Spanish.

Known for creating a comfortable and relaxed classroom atmosphere, Sam’s goal is to inspire students to fully engage with the texts she teaches. She is an experienced examiner for OCR and AQA which further informs her understanding of assessment standards and expectations.

In addition to her tutoring, Sam is a published author of both fiction and non-fiction. She is currently working on the biography of the talented poet, Eleanor Anne Porden, whose brief life was cut short by TB in 1825.  

Like all our Partner Tutors, Sam has a busy life that doesn’t stop at teaching and writing. She runs Creative Writing Workshops for children, teenagers and adults for notable institutions, including the Museum of Oxford and the National Maritime Museum of Greenwich. Fascinated by the supernatural and polar exploration, Sam specialises in ghost stories based on the lost Franklin Expedition of 1845, the Ghosts of Greenwich and the Cutty Sark’s collection of figureheads. 

Sam also describes herself as an editor and over the years she has written for organisations such as Oxfam, Scholastic, OUP, the National Literary Trust and the Times Educational Supplement.

Sam’s first degree was in Spanish from Oxford University but she didn’t stop there. She later took a degree in English Literature followed by an MA in Children’s Literature.
